Product Description

Product Description vENT 0004(Tar Media) is an audio documentary(compilation/collection) which aims to examine and celebrate the use of the drum and the bass as expressed within today's foward thinking electronic soundscapes. With the inception of Hip Hop in the late seventies, post modern music composition would be forever revolutionised and later expanded in proving that music could be produced through appropriate measures within a DIY mentality. Hip Hop(although at first considered a fad) is now recognized by today's mainstream as an authentic and viable source of music. The idea of decontructing "found sound" and later reconstructing these particles into complex soundscapes (popularized by DJ Premier & other hip hop archictects), has become the blueprint to the future of music. With careful examination one will notice that a new musician/producer has evolved. This child of hip hop and electronic music is not concerned with genre(he/she grew up with hip hop, computers, turntables, the internet and the communication age), but finds comfort in creating virtual soundscapes signified by booming basslines and complex snares. Unlike the commercial hip hop of today or the experiments of inaccessible drum n bass scientists, this new breed of artist finds comfort in this innovation and therefore, as a result of years of practice and experimentation, now celebrates truth and life via accessible melody, profound thought and schizophrenic drum patterns. The sampler and the turntable have not only pushed the envelope of mainstream composition, but allows this new breed, to re-examine the past and thus incorporate this (ancient)information into modern sound: the old colliding with the new. We invite you to the 21st century of sound & composition: The land of the drum and the bass. This whole album is so complex, diverse and lush, that is hard to describe...it's not strictly drum and bass, there are many influences, but the end result is some nice stimulating, loungey type, drum and bass. It would be impossible for me to even tell you which tune is my favorite, there are many great tracks; 1. Fade - PLANE, 2. Ghosts - The Groove Criminals, 3. The Beat Of The Drum - Xploding Plastix, 6. Orak - Catfish, 9. The Last Laugh(Spoof-Le-Grand Remix) - Tar Baby, and only one that didn't thrill me (number 7. Thyrsus). I would highly reccomend this album to anyone that enjoys drum and bass, downbeat or lounge music, this is more of a hybrid, but it really works well...almost everyone that has heard it, and it has been in my CD changer for months, inquires about it, and has liked it, even those that normally shy away from electronic music. This CD became an instant classic in my 200+ CD collection.
