"Close Enough for Jazz" is a memoir of a jazz career that spanned 45 years and sprawled over 17 states including stints in Los Angeles and New York City. It's a combination of a collection of humorous anecdotes and a serious look at personality traits that creative artists have in common. It puts you in the bass chair for a really wild ride.
What a riveting read! Ron writes in an honest way with a sense of humor. Cried when I read that Ron was there the night the skywalk fell in K.C. I've known Ron since 1980 and never heard him tell that story. It proves how sad and sensitive he still is about that horrific night when he was playing a gig....and then disaster struck. I had the honor of playing flute for him in the orchestra he put together for Medea which he writes about in the book. I'm so proud to know this very talented man and I celebrate his writing talents as well as his incredible bass playing! I highly recommend this book! You won't be disappointed.
